The Score Doesn’t Always Tell the Story ⚾
Welcome to The Baseball Players Newsletter on Substack. Thanks for being here!
What’s up?!
Yesterday I found myself watching a college baseball game where one team won 29–0. One of the craziest scores I’ve ever seen.
It got me thinking about all the teams I’ve played on throughout my baseball career. From little league to pro ball, I’ve been on a lot of different teams. And honestly, most of the teams I played on didn’t have a winning record.
But I learned a lot from being on both losing teams and winning teams. Different lessons, different experiences.
And there’s one thing that’s always true.
Whether you win by 20 or lose by 10, the only thing that really matters is how you show up and compete.
🔥 Friday Fuel: Effort Over Score
You can’t always control the scoreboard.
But you can control how hard you play, how you treat your teammates, and how you respond when things get tough.
The best players I’ve ever played with didn’t let the score decide their effort.
They showed up ready to compete every inning, every game.
Because at the end of the day, effort and attitude say more about you than the score ever will.

This weekend, don’t worry so much about the scoreboard.
Focus on competing, supporting your teammates, and giving your best effort every pitch.
That’s the kind of player people remember.
See you next Friday ⚾🔥
