The Fastest Way to Ruin the Game ⚾
Welcome to The Baseball Players Newsletter on Substack. Thanks for being here!
What’s up?!
First off, sorry for the tech difficulties last week. We’re back up and running and this week’s newsletter is a good one.
I spent the weekend in Arizona at a tournament helping coach one of your favorite YouTube baseball teams, Pottstown Natty. Being around competitive players all weekend reminded me of something important. Comparison is a thief.
It steals confidence. It steals joy. And if you’re not careful, it can steal your love for the game.
🔥 Friday Fuel: Don’t Let Comparison Win
It’s easy to look around and compare.
Someone throws harder.
Someone hits farther.
Someone gets more playing time.
And sometimes the comparison isn’t even with other players. It’s with yourself. You start thinking you should be further along. Better. Bigger. Stronger.
Here’s the problem. If you constantly set expectations that you feel like you’re failing, you slowly take the joy out of baseball.
Goals are good. Dreams are important. But they should motivate you, not make you miserable.
A year ago, you would have loved to be the player you are today. Stronger. Smarter. More experienced. Don’t let comparison blind you from seeing your growth.
Focus on improving. Focus on learning. Focus on enjoying where you are right now.
