Nervous Before a Game? That’s a GOOD Thing ⚾
Welcome to The Baseball Players Newsletter on Substack. Thanks for being here!
What’s up?!
Some of my favorite moments on the mound never came from easy innings. They came when everything felt intense. Runners on. Two outs. Loud crowd. Game hanging in the balance. Those were the moments I wanted most.
While others felt the pressure, I felt locked in. To me, pressure meant trust. It meant the team believed in me enough to hand me the ball when it mattered most. Those moments never scared me. They energized me. I learned pretty quickly that nerves are a signal. Not something to fear, but a reminder that you are exactly where you should be.
🔥 Friday Fuel: Pressure is a Privilege
Every athlete feels something before a big moment. Tight chest. Fast heartbeat. Butterflies that refuse to sit still. That feeling is not a flaw. It is proof that you care.
✅ Nerves mean this matters to you
✅ Pressure moments turn into lifelong memories
✅ The best competitors step toward the spotlight
Pressure is a privilege because it means you earned your spot in the moment. Not everyone gets that opportunity. Some players try to avoid it. The great ones welcome it and rise to it.
Next time you feel nervous before a big pitch or a big at bat, take it in. That feeling means you are exactly where you belong.
