Every Player Has a Different Timeline ⚾
Welcome to The Baseball Players Newsletter on Substack. Thanks for being here!
What’s up?!
One of the things that always surprises people when they meet me in person is that I’m 6’5”. The number of subscribers who tell me, “Wow, you’re way taller than I expected!” is pretty funny.
But here’s something you might not know: up until my junior year of college, I wasn’t the tallest, strongest, or most physical player on my team.
I developed really late.
While some players were bigger, stronger, and throwing harder than me, I was still trying to figure things out. It would have been easy to compare myself and think I was falling behind.
But that’s the thing about baseball.
Every player has a different timeline.
🔥 Friday Fuel: Every Player Has a Different Timeline
One of the biggest mistakes players make is comparing their timeline to someone else’s.
📋 It looks like this:
✅ Focusing on your own development
✅ Being patient with your progress
✅ Putting in the work, even when results take time
✅ Understanding that everyone grows differently
✅ Trusting that improvement isn’t always immediate
Some players develop early. Some players develop late. Some make huge jumps overnight, while others build their game one day at a time. None of that determines how good you can become. The players who reach their potential aren’t always the ones who start ahead. They’re the ones who keep showing up, keep working, and keep believing in themselves. Stop worrying about someone else’s timeline. Focus on your own.
